Any of you guys run 17x9s on a Fox body? I'm looking for good tire sizes - something close to stock on the front, except for a 17" wheel and something huge in the rear. I have no intention of rolling fenders, but I am running without tailpipes and without quads (26 x 10 slicks fit easily)

Any suggestions?

I ran nitto 555 - 245/45/17's on the front and Nitto DR 555R - 275/40/17's on the rear of mine with 17" cobra R's for years with no probs on my 88.

(Now I run 255/35/18's on the front and 285/35/18 Nitto Dr's on the rear , but I have full height adjustment front and rear now also)

In the back, (your car isn't lowered) you can stuff a 275 in there. USUALLY on a 17X9. It'll bulge but if you really want the look, that's the size you want. You MAY want to watch the body side of it for rubbing. If you hit a hard bump and/or the rear really sags. Might get a quick rub. Fronts...you are pretty much stuck with 245 on that 17X9. A 255 fits, but it'll touch nearly every time the wheel is turned on a bump unless you set up some kind of caster camber and bump steer deal to compensate. Then you can run 275's all around believe it or not! I don't tell customers that because they'll lose their head trying to figure out how to do it themselves...and you can't! Need that alignment rack!  Hope this helps.  Went to my foxbody gurus on this for we get these questions all the time

I had 255 45 17s up front and 274 40 17s on the rear of my 88 LX. It was extremely lowered and I had no clearance issues with them. I went to 295 30 18s in the back and they slightly rubbed. A 245 45 is too narrow for a 9 in rim and will expose the wheel lip. The 255 45 fits much better.

Bill, I am pretty sure your LX had 255/40s on the front. A 255/45 is going to be taller and will cause problems on Rich's GT front fender spat. Rich if you bring your car out here to Bills next get together I have a set of 4lug 17x9s with 255/40 AND 255/45s that you can test fit.

As a quick referance, those are 245/45/17's on the front of my car in my sig pic.

Ok, guy has 17X9s on his fox at work and I looked at the sizes.  245/45-17s on front and 275/40-17s on rear  Nice look too.
