SN95 Mustang Fan and Variflow Fan Controller By Adam Dugger (Misc. Tech Section)

Upon receiving my Variflow fan controller, I was very impressed with its layout, ease of installation and quality. Here is the entire kit:

I opted for the 'temp clip' temperature sensing option rather than one that threads into the engine or radiator. The temp clip sits in the radiator fins and is held in by a clip much like what mounts a transmission cooler. According to Gerry Kinder of PSM, the Mustang uses a crossflow radiator and the temp clip should be located outside the fan flow area and close to the outlet. For me, this meant down below on the driver's side, a few inches from the lower radiator hose.
It's tough to see in this pic, but here is the temp clip viewed from under the car.

Looking closely at the picture, the temp clip is just barely visible. What you see in the circle above is the retaining clip which holds the temp clip secure between the fins of the radiator. To the left is the lower hose (blue silicone) and you can see roughly the position of the temp clip in relation to the hose.

Hooking up the electrical connections of the Variflow is very straightforward:

It is stressed that the Variflow unit be mounted within 5 feet of the battery. It is supplied with more than enough wiring to go just about anywhere. I opted to mount it below my MSD 6AL on the passenger side.

This keeps the unit cool, and dry.. and as you can see in relation to the MSD, it is fairly small and easily mountable.
