Introduction

As 'car people', we hold the appearance of our favorite automobiles in high regard. We go through the ritual of 'automotive cleansing' to rid our vehicle of the rigors of the daily commute. I can recall when I was a young boy; using dishwasher detergent and a brush to wash, and then applying some pasty wax that had to remain until it became a chalky nightmare. This was a real strain on the shoulders to somehow remove, and reveal the new shine.

Fast-forward a few years more than I care to mention. Today's cars are very different than oh so many years ago. And, of course, today's car finishes are very different as well. Different painting techniques, paint materials and new environmental concerns demand new procedures for getting that showroom shine.

Enter IBIZ. IBIZ sells a multitude of products for almost every automotive detailing need. I have become accustomed to a certain brand of wax over the last few years, which utilizes a multi step process, so I was somewhat hesitant to try something new that looked so 'simple'. But I was intrigued, and decided to try it out for myself, both on our 1999 Mustang GT, which has a clear coat finish, and our 1988 Mustang GT, which does not.
IBIZ is the official wax of the Corvette Club of America and C5 Registry, so they are good enough for that car, but are they good enough for a Mustang? Let's find out!

The paint on the 99 is near perfect, so I figured we might as well start with that to give it a fair chance.

Wash

I pour a little bit of the IBIZ car wash into the bucket and commence with my standard jet stream of water into the bucket routine. Hmm, that's odd. Where are all the suds? I am used to seeing a beer mug like overflow of foam and suds, so much that I stop spraying and wait for the foam to die down before filling the bucket up. But there were almost none. Thinking I didn't use enough wash, I poured a bit more into the bucket and sprayed again. Still nothing. Then I notice on the bottle it says "90% suds free". I wonder if this is a gimmick, or will it work?

I start washing the car, and it's sure doing its job. Minor water spots and stains are coming off with a lot less effort than I am used to. But it just feels weird to not see foamy bubbles all over the car.

Here is a shot with the entire nose of the car covered in wash. Weird huh? It just looks wet, not soapy!

Not bad, I think to myself. Let's move on to the wax!

Wax

Using the supplied foam pads, I applied the wax onto one body panel at a time. I choose the hood, since the results are often most noticeable on the flat surface. It is a cream wax with a pleasant aroma. It went on very easy, requiring almost no pressure at all.
Using the supplied polishing diaper (gotta love a car care company that calls their product a diaper), wipe the wax off. I have to say that this is by far the easiest removal process I have ever tried. IBIZ recommends doing one portion of the car at a time, and wipe off while it is still wet. I decided to stray a bit and allow the wax to dry for about 2 minutes, just to see how tough it could be, worst case scenario.
To my delight, it came off just as easy as before. Within 10-15 minutes I was rewarded with a deep glossy shine and a super smooth surface. One step, so easy.

Interior

Being so impressed with the outside, I was curious to see what IBIZ could do for the inside of the car. I have tried many products for the interior trim, but I tend to shy away from them. I don't care for a greasy interior which wipes off on your hands. I also do not like a bright reflective dashboard which produces a nice glare on the windshield right in my line of vision. The deck was surely stacked against IBIZ.

After wiping down the dash, door panels and the rest of the interior with a damp cloth, I applied the "IBIZ Car Sheen" to the drivers side door panel. Car Sheen is for leather and vinyl surfaces, and there is a multitude of vinyl/plastic in a Mustang.
I sprayed the door panel with Car Sheen and wiped it in with a clean cloth. The result was a clean and semi glossy shine, but no greasiness or reflection. It was nearly dry to my touch. I then applied the product to the remainder of the interior. Very impressive. Looks showroom.
Chalk one up for IBIZ.

Quick Detailing

This is my absolute favorite product. We have all used "Quick Detailers", whether it's at car shows, at the track, or simply wiping that present the birds decide to drop on you.
The majority of the ones I have tried are somewhat watery, and often streak as they remove the offending dirt, requiring you to follow up with a clean cloth to buff a shine.
IBIZ calls their product "Waterless Wash & Wax". One try and you will surely see why.

I sprayed the product onto the side of the car just as I normally do, but instead of it running down, it simply stayed there. Wiping it in you can feel it is different, it contains carnauba wax. Not only is the dirt gone, but you are rewarded with a glossy shine and a smooth surface once again.
I decided to Wash & Wax the door jamb area, as this is a tedious part if you want to use conventional wax. I also used it on the radiator support under the hood, the exposed underhood areas, and inside the trunk. Can you tell I love this stuff?

Conclusion

Well the car looks perfect, ready for that show, cruise night, club meeting or even just going back into the garage to wait for weekend duty. A quick follow up with IBIZ Tire and Rubber Finish on the tires was the finishing touch.

A week later driving the car it still looks great. Still has the gloss, the interior looks incredible and any 'mishaps' are quickly taken care of by the Waterless Wash & Wax.

How did it do on the 88? How does it look?
